Flood the World: At the Fire

At the Fire

Should they find us, know
As the flames lick and coil

Around our tattooed ankles

You will always be my family.

As we are reduced to ashes
Let us clasp our hands together.
The flames will heal our skins
Of their scars and stories.

They will lap away the names
Of our forsaken gods
And as their names go

So too shall ours.

Then nameless we shall be

As we go into the soil.

But our tears will crown the sea

And our cries upturn the winds.

We will wreath the stars

With our precious breath

Should they ever find us and

Turn us over to the fire.
